James Burgess

Maryanne Montgomery described her friend James Burgess to the Washington Post: "The most loving, compassionate, friendly person I know…kind of shy, but always had a joke and a smile."

James loved to spend time in the outdoors on water skis and also on the golf course.  He shared his friendship and his hometown of Greenville, SC with friend Billy Hong (also seated in the same row).  James was 55 when the flight 007 passengers were abducted (Billy was 41) and earned his living as a textiles salesman.  He has two daughters, a son, and a wife, Mickie.
