Ben Torrey

A close friend and associate of Bert and Exie Schlossberg, Ben Torrey vividly remembers a phone call from Exie on the night of August 31st, 1983, with the distressing news that her father’s plane had disappeared. He followed subsequent events closely and was among the first to hear the news in 1991 of the probably survival of the passengers and crew of KAL 007. He has worked closely with Bert Schlossberg, through the years since, in preparing and publicizing the story of the shooting down, safe landing and rescue of Korean Air Lines Flight 007.

Mr. Torrey is the U.S. Director of the International Committee for the Rescue of KAL 007 Survivors, Inc. As such, he coordinates activities of the Committee in the United States.

He serves currently as the administrator of The King’s School, Bolton, CT. He has over twenty years of prior experience in the field of systems and business consulting and has published internationally in the area of knowledge management.

Mr. Torrey resides in central Connecticut with his wife, Liz, and daughter, Joanna. His two sons, Reuben and Thomas, are currently in school in New Hampshire and New York.
